Our Faith

We Believe
For generations, religious stories have been shaped by only a handful of voices, often sidelining women and non-dominant groups. These narratives influence beliefs, practices, and social norms, frequently reinforcing gender inequality. Yet, they are often used to reinforce ideas that limit women’s rights and freedoms.
By controlling these stories, dominant groups in all major religions in the world have created a skewed narrative which helps them maintain power structures and keep women out of religious conversations and leadership.

Faith Futures Collective exists to challenge this status quo by putting women’s voices at the center of religious interpretations and peacebuilding conversations.
Challenging the Narratives
- Religious interpretations have long been used to justify discriminatory practices, from menstrual taboos to restrictions on women’s leadership.
- By amplifying alternative interpretations rooted in equality and justice, we disrupt entrenched power structures.
- Centering women’s voices in faith-based discourse is key to reshaping cultural perceptions of gender and religion.
The Power of Inclusive Faith in Peacebuilding
We believe sustainable peace is inseparable from gender equality and that religious texts, when interpreted through a feminist lens, can be powerful allies in peacebuilding processes. While our primary focus is on transforming religious narratives, we recognise the powerful link between inclusive religious interpretation and peacebuilding. When women reinterpret religious texts through a feminist lens, they often uncover messages of peace, equality, and justice. These interpretations can then be applied to peacebuilding efforts, creating more inclusive and culturally relevant practices and increasing the likelihood of sustainable peace.
